Entry-level Micropropagation Technician

Oxford, NC

As a Micropropagation Technician at Plantd, you will be responsible for cultivating and dividing young plants at Plantd's tissue culture laboratory in Oxford, North Carolina. Daily, you will work with a team of passionate technicians to process plant material that will grow into rapidly regenerative feedstock for Plantd's fully-electric factory.

Job tasks are very repetitive and require technicians to maintain a clean and organized workspace.

Responsibilities

Quality Control Technician

Oxford, NC

A Quality Control Technician is responsible for maintaining quality standards throughout testing, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution operations of consumer products. They are also responsible for maintaining quality assurance processes, recording and analyzing results as well as taking very detailed notes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform proper and accurate testing for quality control products.
  • Organize and manage the retention of quality records. 
  • Communicate the results of inspections to the Quality Control Supervisor. 
  • Document all deficiencies and errors of product.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Knowledge of standard practices related to quality control.
  • Performing measurements using precise measurement tools (Micrometer, Caliper)

Engineering Manager

As an Engineering manager at Plantd, you will work directly with the founders to grow our team, project manage, design, and build machines that will disrupt the traditional construction materials industry. You will lead a dedicated team of junior engineers to design, fabricate, test, and iterate through current and next-generation technologies that will enable full-scale production of modern, carbon-negative building materials, bringing Plantd’s vision of sustainable building materialsto life.

Day-to-day you will work on planning, designing, and testing automated production lines. You will partner with leadership and peers to develop requirements at the system level and will own the creation of CAD models, engineering drawings, structural analyses, and project planning. You will work closely with an experienced production team to make your designs a reality.

Construction or materials industry experience is not required, we look for smart, motivated, collaborative engineers who love solving problems and want to make an impact on the world.

Machine Test and Maintenance Engineer

Oxford, NC

As an Engineer at Plantd, you will work directly with the leadership team to operate, test and maintain cutting edge machines that have been designed to produce the world's first truly carbon negative building materials that will disrupt the traditional construction industry and aid in our planet's efforts in the fight against climate change. You will work directly with the design and build engineers to learn how to operate the machine and develop maintenance and test campaigns to ensure its proper operation through time. You will lead the effort of training production staff to take over machine operations as you step into the build and test of future machines.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain ownership of machines to ensure constant and reliable operation

Manufacturing Technician

Oxford, NC

The manufacturing specialist at Plantd will assist in building machinery and equipment, finding creative solutions to complex mechanical problems, and contribute to material production efforts as needed. Ideal candidates will have a scrappy, results driven mentality, and will live up to our company motto: Move fast and fix things.

Duties will include welding and metal fabrication, machine servicing and repair, quality control,  and precision machine assembly. You will work collaboratively with engineering to bring novel machines into operation and ensure machines continue to function optimally. 

Mechanical skill is required, must demonstrate welding capability and ability to work with a wide variety of tools. Basic understanding of electronics systems is also a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work with engineers and production staff to assist in building machines to process plant material to produce structural sheet goods for construction.
  • Welding, woodworking, machine maintenance, assembly and repair, quality control.
  • Communicate and work alongside teammates, or independently as needed. 
  • Provide daily progress reports for ongoing projects.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience or employment in a “wrench turning” field.
  • Valid driver license.

Supply Chain Team

Facilitate the logistics of raw materials and hardware components while assisting with the delivery of finished product to customers around the country.

Harvester

Harlingen, TX

You will be responsible for safely running harvesting equipment in the field, handling and loading harvested material for transport, as well as billeting equipment in the warehouse as needed. Material handling, floating and helping with other shop responsibilities as needed. Driving the company vehicles to pick up orders when needed. Potentially helping other departments within the company when asked. You will work at our Harlingen, Texas facility. Of course, the Company may change your position, duties, and work location from time to time at its discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Safely perform numerous tasks related to harvesting of carrizo cane
  • Operate and service a variety of farm machinery and tools
  • Harvest cane at various locations
  • Move harvested material with excavator, trailer and/or tractors from field to warehouse
  • Cut and Prepare cane for transport to production facility
  • Work is 8 hours a day 5 days per week, occasional overtime, either in the field or in the warehouse as required.
