As a Plant Micropropagation Lab Manager at Plantd, you will lead and oversee the comprehensive daily operations of our plant micropropagation laboratory that will enable full-scale production of modern, carbon-negative building materials, bringing Plantd’s vision of sustainable building materials to life. You would use your proven management experience, creativity to solve problems, and ability to adapt quickly to changes to lead the day-to-day operations of the micropropagation lab to optimize lab efficiency, data integrity, and team performance. In addition, you will work with our in-house software system to track and project daily and weekly plant production to ensure we meet our annual production goals.
Operational Leadership: Manage and oversee all lab activities, ensuring protocols are strictly followed and production targets are met across all shifts.
Team Management: Provide direct leadership to supervisors and lab technicians, handling task assignments, performance evaluations, and team development.
Advanced Data & Inventory Management: Utilize solid computer skills to manage lab data tracking software, ensuring all data is accurate, up-to-date, and used for post-processing analysis.
Quality & Protocol Oversight: Maintain and uphold high standards for professionalism and micropropagation techniques, modeling efficient divisions and meticulous data collection for the team.
Strategic Communication: Lead regular leadership meetings with team leads, report on production numbers and goals, and manage process change communications via team-wide emails.
Equipment & Facility Maintenance: Ensure all lab equipment is in optimal working order and oversee the completion of critical opening and closing checklists.

Bachelor's degree in plant physiology, horticulture, or other related scientific discipline OR 4+ years of professional experience in plant micropropagation or tissue culture.

Extensive background in tissue culture lab environments and plant micropropagation protocols.
